  • Is it fundamental to attach files with Income tax return?

    ITR forms, whether filed manually or filed electronically; do not need to attached any supported documents like TDS certificates, LIC receipt etc. These documents would be maintained by the taxpayer and submit before the tax authorities whenever asked by them in case of assessment, inquiry, etc.

  • Where can a taxpayer file his ITR electronically?

    IT Department has installed an unbiased portal for e-filing of return. The taxpayers can log on to income tax portal for the purpose. A person can also generate online return by using utility software and file the return electronically.

  • What is the importance of Form 26AS?

    A taxpayer will use the above asked form for the payment of taxes to government. Taxes can be in form of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), Tax Collected at Source (TCS) or, Advance tax or self-assessment tax.

  • Once the return is filed then can we revised it?

    In case you file your return within the due date, however later realize that there has been an error, and then you can revise income tax return within a period of a that year. There is no limit on how many times you file an amended return during this time.

  • What are the penalties for late filing of ITR?

    According to Income tax act, if return is not filed on particular given time then penalty would be imposed up to Rs 10,000. On the off chance that its filed after the cutoff time however before December 31, at that point punishment would be Rs 5,000. But, if the total income is less than Rs 5 lakh, then penalty amount will be maximum of Rs 1,000. This move meant to provide relief to the small taxpayer.
