Clarifies CBIC

The Central Board of Excise and Customs has extended the last date for relief late fee on filing of Form GSTR 1 for the duration between July 2017 and November 2019, by a week to January 17.

But in between a fake tweet has been published on social media as CBIC and official CBIC has announced a clarification regarding the circulation of a fake tweet.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has announced a clarification following the circulation of a fake tweet. The fake tweet says that the government has decided to extend the date for filing Form GSTR 1 till January 31.

"As a one-time measure to clear back log of pending returns, it has been decided to further extend the waiver till 31 January 2020," states the fake tweet.

The CBIC shared an image of the tweet and said, "FORM GSTR-1 late fee waiver scheme has ended on 17th January 2020. No further extension has been given. A fake tweet in this regard has been circulating in social media."
